WHAT SCARES YOU?

Robot Nothing...
Simple Question... I have the fear of a couple things and I am going to share the easy one first... drowning terrifies me first and foremost. Second is being in a hole that is just deep enough where I cannot reach out and wide enough where I can barely breathe. Add some darkness, I am a goner... it has always freaked me out and the dreams that are to follow. Happy Halloween!!

Bond... Retro-Zombie Style

So what is your fear?

Six Strings with... Drew Seeley

Yes, I guess this is one for the ladies out there, he was a very nice person and I was happy to talk to him about his film... and other stuff. If you would like to find out about "Drew Seeley" feel free and you know where to [CLICK]...

It's kind of funny when you get a chance to interview someone from somewhere, it's like they share stuff with you on a fun and personal level. I have a tendency to follow someone I have met or interviewed, well at least if they are cool or good people.

Who are some of the good people you have met, that you feel good about and follow their personal progress. It can be famous people, blog people or just people?

Words with Roland D. Yeomans

So to add to your enjoyment that being Friday and heading towards the great pumpkin appearing in your town... I bring you my good friend, Roland D. Yeomans.
-Jeremy [Retro-Zombie]

-Tell us about "Ghost of a Chance" and the inspiration behind it?

Stephen King wrote a series of books starring Roland the gunslinger who traversed many of King’s literary worlds. I thought how much fun I could have if I put myself in a race against death across my own fictional worlds: a sort of supernatural NORTH BY NORTHWEST, the Hitchcock classic movie.
I have always had a crush on Marlene Dietrich since I saw GOLDEN EARRINGS on a late night classic movie marathon as a child.  I’ve always wished I could pal around with Mark Twain.  So I wrote a novel where I was the love interest of the ghost of Marlene Dietrich and best friend of the ghost of Mark Twain.

-Do you feel that books/bookstores are thriving, dying or dead?

It is increasingly a visual society. Reading is becoming a thing of the past.  In a generation, books may have gone the way of the slide rule.  The internet has killed music stores and have hurt book stores, perhaps mortally so.

YA fiction is saving books at the moment.  But for how long?

-What is the scariest thing that you think you have written?

A selection in THE RIVAL where Victor Standish walks into a nexus between realities:

In this dark cavern of a saloon, things vast, blind, and monstrous took shape in the bronze-hued mists that billowed all through the place.
They lumbered without notice of us.  They became almost solid, fuzzed, then drifted apart only to re-form feet from where they had been.  A huge being in a brown robe strode slow and steady.
To my right and up so high it hurt my neck to take it in, a weird hill of metal and stone floated slowly.  It trembled, then moved and stirred like a dragon waking from sleep.  Blossoming as if alive, it became a triad of three faces that revolved as it floated away from us.  An angelic face, both terrible and beautiful beyond any singing of it.  An eagle’s face, whose fierce eyes seemed to burn with fires undying.  A lamb’s face, remote but somehow sad.
About me, inhuman forces seemed to glide around, behind, and above.  Titters of insane giggling came from the shadows.  I flinched as invisible bat-like wings brushed my right cheek.
A dance macabre formed in the mists to my far left.  Up high and almost lost in the billowing fog, sprites of dark ice spun on one leg, twirling slowly, their angular faces lost in some delirium of madness.  They began to sing.
It was an invocation.  But to what?
Something loathsome and foul billowed before them.  They spun the faster, sang even higher.  An Unnamable One.  I had never seen its like before.  Horned and winged, blood oozing along its writhing tentacles that weaved in beat to the sprites’ singing.
If ever hate and evil were incarnated in sound, I heard and felt it then.  It filled the room, the streets beyond, the sky, the very universe filled with it.  Its blackness hit me like a physical wind, and I knew if I looked outside, the stars themselves would be blotted out.
Abysses loathsome and endless yawned hungrily in the mists before me.  I caught flashes, glimpses of alien voids and unholy dimensions beyond all human experience.  Cold sweat stood out on my whole body.
I tried to pry my eyes from the mists before something permanent and dangerous happened to my sanity.  I could not.  The sprites’ singing rose higher and higher until it lost all semblance to song but instead became the inhuman, unearthly shrieks of damned souls being dragged helplessly down into Hell.

-If you hear a noise from the dark [you know you are alone] do you investigate or scream like Samuel L. Jackson?

Both.  LOL.

-What can we expect next and do you work from a title then story or story then title?

THREE SPIRIT KNIGHT is my next title, the fourth in the adventures of Victor Standish.  I hope to have it out by Thanksgiving.  Halloween would have fit the storyline better, but I am only human.  It takes time to write while being a rare blood courier!
It may not be out until Christmas when I wanted Victor’s 5th adventure out, SLAYBELLES IN THE NIGHT.
Sometimes the title comes first.  Sometimes the story.  More often than not, it is the title first though.

Bio: WHO IS THIS STRANGE MAN WANTING ME TO READ HIS NOVELS?

My family left Detroit when I was quite young so my last memories of Detroit are hub cabs and knee caps. The further south we went, the hotter it got. So I was glad when we stopped in Lafayette, Louisiana, because I was certain the next stop would have been Hell.
A year there taught me to say "sir and ma'am" and to pronounce David and Richard in really strange ways when they were last names. And it was not a pretty sight when I said Comeaux for the first time.
Lake Charles was the next stop. I remember standing in the front yard of our new home, watching the neighbor across the street beating in his front door (his wife had locked it) with a fence post.
I looked up to Mom and said, "You know, if I had a degree in Psychology, I would probably understand what's going on there."
She ruffled my hair and said back, "Lot's of luck with that."
And she was right. A master's degree in psychology hasn't unlocked the why's of the pain I see. It just helped me put fancy labels on them.
I have been everything but a pirate, but since I once worked for a tax preparation firm, I guess you could say I've been that, too. I was a teacher for awhile. Then, a family counselor. My mother contracted cancer, and I emptied my savings, opening my own bookstore to give me freedom to go with her for the out-of-town treatments.
Mother died. The reason for my store died with her. I saw an opening at Lifeshare Blood Center in the Product Management department. I applied and was hired. And the rest is infamy, ah, I mean history.
I've been writing most of my life. Most of my old writings burned up when my home burned to the ground. But now, I have several e-books out including, THE BEAR WITH TWO SHADOWS, on sale at Amazon .

Also I have RITES OF PASSAGE, concerning the adventures of Victor Standish’s guardian when he sailed into madness across the Bermuda Triangle of 1853.

You can see the book trailer for RITES OF PASSAGE and my other books on the book trailer page of my blog: http://rolandyeomans.blogspot.com/

I work horrendous hours as a rare blood courier.  I worked 18 hours straight this past Labor Day.  So much like my young hero, Victor Standish, I am often so fatigued that I only think I know what I am doing.
And that is the truth of my life ... give or take a lie or two.

Roland D. Yeomans, M.A.

Murder Mansion - Short Story by: Lorelei Bell

Okay I am having to show my stuff and share a great new read from my great friend and author "Lorelei Bell" I am not even sure how friends are made, but I have many of you out there... some close and some even closer... So last week she called me up on the old rotary dial phone... ring, ring. Hey I have this short story called "Murder Mansion" and I wonder if you might have an idea for a cover for this... you know me, I jumped at the chance.

Info: Murder Mansion is a ghost story. It's premise is centered on the fact that people who have come to tragic or horrific endings, must return to re-live those moments that put them in the grave. What happened to James and Joan was horrific. They both must return to that same house, or mansion, where something horrible happened to Joan, and James was blamed for her murder.

If you stare at it for a bit it the red blood will start to vibrate, yes this was my thought to make it do it. It was a treat and pleasure to be able to make it. If you all would like click on the links above to learn more about her and books. Also tell her that Retro-Zombie sent you, I know that is silly... this way she knows I care.

If you need a book cover designed or any other items... you know where to find me.

Halloween Comes Early... Thanks to Something WicKED!!

GOODIES GALORE!
Big box on my doorstep and it's addressed to me... I am afraid at first, then like a kid on their birthday... I rip this open and it's full of fun and holiday cheer... I wanted to thank friends over at "Something WicKED" for having such a great contest a little time ago and being able to share it with all of us!

"rapping at [his] chamber door"
I also in another contest won a blu-ray/dvd of John Cusack's film "THE RAVEN" where it will challenge the idea that Edgar Allen Poe was more than just a macabre writer. I wanted to thank my other friend "I Like Horror Movies" who is my inspiration to keep the horror alive.

Last thing for today, so I reached my 500 plus 1 and I am pretty happy about that... so the contest is over, I will be picking a someone real soon. Thank you for the support and welcome my newest friends.

The Witch's Cat

I am a cat—a witch's cat,
I ride the skies tonight;
I'll hiss and snarl at all I meet.
And fill their souls with fright.
When I was small, they called me cute,
And thought me lucky, too;
Now they contend I shelter imps
Who dreadful damage do.
If they go out and I stand by,
Or pass across their path,
They turn about and seek their homes,
Scared of the spirit's wrath.
So I'm a cat, a lonely cat,
All set for Hallowe'en;
Before the dawn there's much to do
And still more to be seen.

I don't bother chasin' mice around...

Do We Need Texas Chainsaw Massacre?

Come On, Let Me Eat Your Face...

Synopsis: TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D continues the legendary story of the homicidal Sawyer family, picking up where Tobe Hooper’s 1974 horror classic left off in Newt, Texas, where for decades people went missing without a trace.  The townspeople long suspected the Sawyer family, owners of a local barbeque pit, were somehow responsible.  Their suspicions were finally confirmed one hot summer day when a young woman escaped the Sawyer house following the brutal murders of her four friends.  Word around the small town quickly spread, and a vigilante mob of enraged locals surrounded the Sawyer stronghold, burning it to the ground and killing every last member of the family – or so they thought.

So I have been thinking, so now Hollywood says to themselves... remakes/reboots are the in thing and you know what will make it even better... in 3D. That will have them all lining up like fool, we won't pay attention to script or that there had been very successful version a few years back. There are a couple of advantages to the film that might sway me in a positive view.

One is... Alexandra Daddario

I know what you are thinking... but there is a few more surprises that might make it a nay to a yeah! So what are you thoughts, is this something you might consider seeing it?
-Jeremy [Retro-Zombie]

Boris Karloff and ME!!

William Henry Pratt (23 November 1887 – 2 February 1969), better known by his stage name Boris Karloff, was an English actor.

Karloff is best remembered for his roles in horror films and his portrayal of Frankenstein's monster in Frankenstein (1931), Bride of Frankenstein (1935), and Son of Frankenstein (1939). His popularity following Frankenstein was such that for a brief time he was billed simply as "Karloff" or "Karloff the Uncanny." His best-known non-horror role is as the Grinch, as well as the narrator, in the animated television special of Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (1966).

The Walking Dead - Season 3 - Episode 302

Struggling with the guilt of abandoning Merle Dixon on a department store rooftop, T-Dog – born Theodore Douglas -- feels the need to continually prove his value as a member of the group.

But T-Dog’s experiences since the apocalypse have slowly undermined his confidence, leaving him vulnerable and quick to flee. After being injured during a walker attack, T-Dog deliriously suggests to Dale that the two should just take the RV and abandon the others. Later, he apologizes, asserting that “I’m not a coward, and I’m not weak.”

Still, T-Dog is a highly moral person, eagerly volunteering to go after Merle despite their differences.

A proven soldier, T-Dog bravely defends the group on several occasions against walker attacks, and personally rescues Lori and Beth during the herd attack on the farm. Afterwards, however, T-Dog falls back on his instincts to flee, refusing to face the danger of driving Lori back to the highway to regroup with Rick.

“We’ve got a shot to get away in one piece,” he argues, but when Lori threatens to jump from the vehicle, T-Dog relents. “You’re out of your damn minds,” he declares.

True Hallowe'en

The True Hallowe'en
(Tune: ''A Merry Life/' by Denza,)
Some think that Hallowe'en is made for witches,
So black and sly, so black and sly.
Who torture boys and girls with switches.
I wonder why? I wonder why?
But I, I think I know the reason,
For strange things done, for strange things done.
It's just because it is the season
For lots of fun, for lots of fun!

[Chorus]

Gather, gather with your pumpkin heads.
Gather, gather, have no thought of beds.
It is the night when any fright
And any plight is really right!

Gather, all you boys and girls.
And cast away your dreads.
Some think that Hallowe'en is made for mischief,
But that's unkind. But that's unkind.
The folk that walk are really friendly,
So you will find. So you will find.
The ghosts and witches all are jolly,
So are the cats. So are the cats.
To fear or hate them is all folly,
Even the bats. Even the bats.

Sing... sing... song!

The Nineties Blogfest and My Sexy Star Trek: Next Generation [2013]

Okay let me explain... I had nothing for this "The Nineties Blogfest" hosted by Dave Wrote This... so it got me to thinking about if they are remaking the Star Trek Universe in film, the next to come might be "The Next Generation" as well. So I started thinking about the perfect cast replacements, not the original cast could not pull it off... I just started thinking and built this poster and thought you could add your ideas to who you might like to see in these iconic roles. With a little twist and turn I sort of tossed all the rules of the game and I am sorry for that, please don't be mad... enjoy.

Sidenote: My thought is the only good thing I remember from the 90's was Star Trek: The Next Generation, because of the accident and my head injuries. It creates blocked memories and as I suffer from a flush of forced total recall and in this case it was this.

Cheat Sheet:

Captain Jean-Luc Picard -
Commander William T. Riker -
Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge -
Lieutenant Worf -
Counselor Deanna Troi -
Lt. Commander Data -
Doctor Beverly Crusher -
Wesley Crusher -

Just like a remake or reboot I give you my inspiration of "The Nineties Blogfest"... I hope you like it!!

GHOST OF A CHANCE by: Roland Yeomans

I have a great new read for you... I have only started to read this book "GHOST OF A CHANCE" by: Roland Yeomans and I all ready know I love it... though my speed in reading is like finding my way out of a paper bag. Not for any other reason, that I am not sure anyone really wanted to read my craziness... I do encourage you all to take a good look at Roland's body of work... now there is talent [HERE]!
