Three wise monkeys (san'en or sanzaru, or, sanbiki no saru, literally "three monkeys"), sometimes called the three mystic apes, are a pictorial maxim. Together they embody the proverbial principle to "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil". The three monkeys are Mizaru, covering his eyes, who sees no evil; Kikazaru, covering his ears, who hears no evil; and Iwazaru, covering his mouth, who speaks no evil. Sometimes there is a fourth monkey depicted with the three others; the last one, Shizaru, symbolizes the principle of "do no evil". He may be shown crossing his arms.
If you are stopping by to SEE NO EVIL,
please feel free to click on over to my t-shirt store... I understand
that if MONKEYS wore t-shirts, they would be wearing mine shirts, yes all three of them....

ReplyDeleteYou are always so fun!
ReplyDeleteWell, if you think I'd rather look at monkeys instead of a girl, you're crazy!
ReplyDeleteOr did you mean adding 'do no evil?'
I never thought those monkeys had a name back-story or anything. How cool is that? Thanks Jeremy!
