General Nicholas Joseph "Nick" Fury is a fictional character published by Marvel Comics' Ultimate Marvel section as the different version of Nick Fury. He has a substantial presence in all the Ultimate Marvel comics, appearing first in Ultimate Marvel Team-Up and Ultimate X-Men and later reappearing regularly in Ultimate Spider-Man and finally securing a regular, recurring role as the General of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the leader of the Ultimates, a re-imagining of the Avengers.
His character was redesigned to look like Samuel L. Jackson, the actor who later went on to portray Nick Fury in several Marvel movies set in the established Marvel Cinematic Universe: a brief post-credits scenes in Iron Man and Thor, a supporting role in Iron Man 2, two scenes in Captain America: The First Avenger, a protagonist in The Avengers, another cameo appearance in the television series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and will next been seen in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Loved his role in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Well, I love any Marvel film, thanks to my son. I'm even rekindling a lost love of comic books too!

I grew up with the original Nick Fury, and was wary when they were going with the Ultimate version for the movies, because I wasn't much of a fan of the Ultimate Nick Fury. That is, until Sam Jackson was cast. How could Nick Fury not be the coolest cat in any room at that point? And now that they have re-imagined the comic character after Jackson's portrayal, I've pretty much forgotten all about the Nick Fury with whom I grew up.
