"H" is for HECTOR BARBOSSA - A to Z April Challenge [2015]

So what can we say about Disney? Holds a special place in some of our hearts, for the villains or heroes and or the beautiful look. I hope to share a little bit of everything in the days coming, maybe things you forgot about, maybe not and being part of the Co-hosting for A to Z Challenge we all remember Tina... a dear friend and sweet lady.

Please stop back throughout the challenge, can I encourage you to start following me on Google + and be a member. I promise to give you posts here on why we are all a little "Hollywood Nuts"! -Jeremy [Retro]

Hector Barbossa is a fictional character in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series partly inspired by Barbarossa Hayreddin Pasha. Barbossa is portrayed by Australian actor Geoffrey Rush in all the films. Barbossa was first introduced in the series as the villainous and treacherous captain of the Black Pearl after committing mutiny against the ship's rightful captain, Jack Sparrow, in the series' first installment Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003). Having met his demise in the climax of the film, his character is revealed to have been resurrected at the end of Dead Man's Chest (2006). In the third film At World's End (2007), it is revealed that Barbossa is also one of the nine pirate lords in the Brethren Court, the Pirate Lords of the Seven Seas. In the fourth film On Stranger Tides (2011), he has become a privateer in the King's Navy and is ordered to be Jack's guide on an expedition for the Fountain of Youth.

  1. I've never seen any of The Pirates of the Caribbean films, but Geoffrey Rush is sure to give an exceptional performance. You could tell how much he enjoys hamming It up in these fantastic photos!

  6. I really liked him in the first movie - such a rogue :) I have to say I'm not a fan of the sequels though.

  7. If anyone could steal those movies from Depp, it was Barbossa. He was absolutely terrific.

Good luck with the 2015 A to Z Challenge!

  9. He was perfect as the sly pirate who betrayed another pirate. And he always appeared so sane compared to Jack Sparrow.

  11. Great theme. Sadly, I haven't seen these pirate movies. Maybe when my kids get a bit older we can enjoy them together.

  12. I love Geoffrey Rush in all of his characters. He gives true meaning to the term morphing , which he does in any film he's in. I love how he can be serious or funny and do them both so well. Great choice! Lisa, co-host AtoZ 2015, @ http://www.lisabuiecollard.com

  13. Now that's a face you are compelled to watch. I loved him The Curse of the Black Pearl. He almost upstaged Depp.

  14. I love Barbossa (even more than Capt'n Jack...I know, blasphemy!) and they couldn't have picked a better actor than Geoffrey! I just wish they would have spent as much time on his audioanimatronic character at Disney World as they did on Jack, it looks TERRIBLE!
