So what can we say about Disney? Holds a special place in some of our hearts, for the villains or heroes and or the beautiful look. I hope to share a little bit of everything in the days coming, maybe things you forgot about, maybe not and being part of the Co-hosting for A to Z Challenge we all remember Tina... a dear friend and sweet lady.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl is a 2003 American fantasy swashbuckler film based on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disney theme parks. It was directed by Gore Verbinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. The story follows pirate Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) and blacksmith Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) as they rescue the kidnapped Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) from the cursed crew of the Black Pearl, captained by Hector Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush), who become undead skeletons at night.
The film spun off three sequels, with a fourth sequel set to be released in 2017. The first two were back-to-back sequels in 2006 and 2007, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, respectively. The third sequel, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, was released in 2011. The fourth sequel was revealed to be called, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Production is slated to begin in October 2014 and was scheduled for a summer 2016 release, but was eventually delayed to 2017. It is to be directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg.

Fantastic movie. I remember reading the studio was nervous about Depp's performance and then it turned out to be the best part of the movie. He does need to let it go now... One of the most played movie soundtracks in our house!

them pirates always make me doze off..... five times... four times if I'm lucky..... still better than Harry Plopper which averages around six to seven dozesessions a movie....
ReplyDeleteI really loved the first film :) I think the sequels may be a little over done, however. I can only take so much of Captain Jack, even though he is brilliant.

Of course they're doing another one. The others made a butt load of money.
ReplyDeleteI saw Pirates of the Caribbean on a "date" once. The guy I was dating had been working long hours but he wanted to see me, so he invited me over. All his movies were guy movies so I agreed to Pirates of the Caribbean. He started the movie and fell asleep. He snored very loudly next to me through the entire thing!
ReplyDeleteI guess Curse of the Black Pearl is my most favorite Pirates of the Caribbean movie.. and Johnny Depp is so effing sexy.
ReplyDeleteIt is funny I remember watching this movie and thoroughly enjoying it, but I had no clue what it would become. I remember hearing the payday J. Depp received for these movies. They have been very good to him.
ReplyDeleteI like the first on the best. I am on the fence on the last one so I am not so sure I want to watch another one. We will see.
ReplyDeleteMy expectations were fairly low when I first went to see the movie, and it blew me away. I can't wait for the fifth one!
ReplyDeleteYargh! Now I want t' wear me eye patch and talk all piratey today!
ReplyDeleteBut then I won't be able to see.
ReplyDeleteI saw the first one and thought it was fairly good, not great, though Depp did a great job with the piracy and all. The ride is one of Disneyland's best.
ReplyDeleteThe first move was the best, the second one not so much and by the third I was kind-of done- which is why I never saw the 4th.
ReplyDeleteThe first one, though- just great. And Jack Sparrow will be a pop culture fixture in pirate-dom for a long, long time to come.
Such a fun movie!
ReplyDeleteLove those movies!
ReplyDeleteSeeing these set photos makes me realize how insanely hot the costumes must have been for the actors. Great movies, my son has been Jack Sparrow for Halloween at least three times. A fun A to Z post!
ReplyDeleteSuch a good movie. I didn't realize it was a Disney film. And I sure didn't know that Jerry Bruckheimer produced it! Your posts are just full of great information. (and I'm still enamored with the Jessica Rabbit video you posted back in J! I've watched it several times; it's so good. To me it's fascinating how the actors have to pretend they are looking at something when they're filming their parts. That has to be so difficult!)
ReplyDeleteOK Johnny Depp is not making great films like he used to but I love him in these films. He really made this character loveable even if he is an SOB:)
ReplyDeleteI remember my son taking his children to see the film, most impressed.
ReplyDeleteWonderful post and photo's.
Yvonne.
I only saw the first movie - don't know why I didn't see any of the others, as I love Johnny Depp. I rode that ride years ago Fun!
ReplyDeleteOne of my all time favorite series. The whole cast does amazing work, but Depp is beyond brilliant as he portrays Sparrow. You can never truly tell if he just has extremely good dumb luck or if he is a brilliant mastermind.

I haven't seen this series - yes I'm one of those in the minority - but pirates and shipwrecks didn't appeal.

Good fun movies. I think the first one was the best.
ReplyDeleteI think the third and fourth movies were better than a lot of people said (but mostly because as a storyteller I recognized a lot of folklore and legend they built into them). I don't know about the new one, we'll just have to wait and see... but delayed production is never a good sign.
ReplyDeleteAlso, holy crap, the first movie is 12 years old?!

Saw the movie, enjoyed it, now I have forgotten most of it. Never saw any sequels.
ReplyDeleteThe best part of the movie was the discovery of Bill Nighy who plays Davy Jones. Love, love, love his acting.
ReplyDeleteI definitely like the first movie the best. Johnny Depp's performance was spectacular. You can tell he really likes playing Jack Sparrow.
ReplyDeleteWatched the first only and liked it. Maybe I should catch up on the rest before the next one is out. Johnny Depp is amazing.
ReplyDeleteI love the Pirates movies. You can't beat getting to see Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom in the same movie! The soundtracks from the movies are great too!
