BACK TO THE FUTURE...STRICKLAND... wasn't mad you were only a SLACKER!

James Stewart Tolkan (born June 20, 1931) is an American actor, often cast as a strict, overbearing, bald-headed authority figure.

Tolkan is known for his role in the 1985 film Back to the Future as the strict, Hill Valley High School head of discipline Gerald Strickland. He referred to Marty McFly, his father, and Biff Tannen derisively as "slackers." He reprised the role in the 1989 sequel Back to the Future Part II, where unnamed gang members made a drive-by assault on him in a bleak alternate present (then 1985). He also referred to these criminals as "slackers" as he shot back. In 1990, he played the part of Mr. Strickland's grandfather Chief Marshal James Strickland in Back to the Future Part III. Tolkan would reprise his role as Strickland in addition to playing his character's ancestors and descendants in the 1991 animated series spin-off.

Other well-known roles include an FBI agent in WarGames and Stinger, the no-nonsense commander of an aircraft carrier in the 1986 box-office hit Top Gun. He portrayed the role of cold and determined District Attorney Polito in Sidney Lumet's Prince of the City. He also appeared in the 1987 film Masters of the Universe as Detective Lubic. He played a dual role in the Woody Allen comedy Love and Death, playing both Napoleon and a look-alike. He also appeared as Big Boy Caprice's accountant "Numbers" in the 1990 Warren Beatty film Dick Tracy.

One of the nicest people, met him a few years back...

BACK TO THE FUTURE... GEORGE MCFLY... is more than meets the Eye!

Crispin Hellion Glover (born April 20, 1964) is an American actor, director, screenwriter, recording artist, publisher, and author.

Glover is known for portraying eccentric people on screen such as George McFly in Back to the Future, Layne in River's Edge, unfriendly recluse Rubin Farr in Rubin and Ed, Andy Warhol in The Doors, the "Thin Man" in the film adaptation of Charlie's Angels and its sequel, Willard Stiles in the Willard remake, The Knave of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland, Phil in Hot Tub Time Machine, and a Willy Wonka parody in Epic Movie.

George is portrayed as weak and the main target of Biff Tannen's bullying. The novelization of the film expounds on George's history of weakness, describing two incidents in which he is unable to stand up for himself. In 1955, in contrast with Marty, George did not have any friends for support and was targeted not only by Biff and his gang but also other kids in school. He has a penchant for science fiction, and writes some of his own but never allows himself to share them with anyone due to his fear of rejection. In 1955, with Marty's help, he gets the courage to stand up to Biff, knocking him unconscious. As a result, he and Lorraine fall in love and George becomes popular in school for defeating Biff in a fight. In the new future, he and Lorraine are happily married and George is a successful writer who orders Biff around. In the alternate timeline in Part II, George was murdered by Biff in 1973.

BACK TO THE FUTURE... BIFF TANNEN... really isn't a BUTTHEAD!

Thomas Francis Wilson Jr. (born April 15, 1959) is an American actor, writer, musician, painter, voice-over artist, comedian, and podcaster. He played Biff Tannen, Griff Tannen and Buford "Mad Dog" Tannen in the Back to the Future trilogy, and Coach Ben Fredricks on NBC's Freaks and Geeks.

Biff is a large, rude, arrogant and violent bully who obtains what he wants by intimidating others into doing his work for him, or by cheating. He and his family members have a tendency to misuse idioms in a way that makes them appear foolish and comical despite their intention to insult or intimidate, and all share a disdain for manure. His favorite insult is "butthead".

Interview with Composer... Pedro Bromfman

Jeremy [The Wolf]:  How did you get involved on the show "NARCOS" and where do you see the opportunities for composers to more involved in shows like this that are featured only on the internet?

Pedro Bromfman: Initially through my longtime friend and collaborator José Padilha, one of the creators of the show. I’m happy to be involved with anything José works on, I think he has true vision and an amazing talent as a filmmaker. Apart from that I was very excited about this project for a couple of reasons. Being from Brazil, I’m fascinated about South American history. I clearly remember hearing about the Colombian situation and the stranglehold the Cartels had on the country and its people. It’s amazing to watch it all on TV and to think that, even though names were changed and some characters were made up, most of what you see on screen actually happened. Last but not least the opportunity to work with a company like Netflix, producing such amazing content and truly disrupting the way we watch TV and consume entertainment. Netflix in my opinion is transcending the boundaries of the internet, it is a main stream source of entertainment present in smart TVs, tablets, phones, etc.

Jeremy [The Wolf]:  Robocop that you scored, that was a big huge step in your career... being a remake/retelling how much support or flack did you take, from the fans of the original film? Was there a level of hostility from people on the main theme by Basil Poledouris being part of the score you did, paying homage to the original?.....

MOUSE IN THE HOUSE!

FUN FACTS: Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures was the subject of media controversy when one scene was interpreted as a depiction of cocaine use. In the episode "The Littlest Tramp" a poor mouse girl attempts to sell flowers, and is repeatedly harassed by a rich man who crushes her flowers. She runs out of flowers and makes new ones from sundry items she finds, such as tomato slices, but the man crushes these too. Mighty Mouse attempts to purchase the flowers with his chunk of cheese, and to avenge the girl, but she gives Mighty Mouse the crushed flowers and insists that others need help more than she does. After successfully saving several different characters, he is reminded of the girl, and attempts to smell the flowers she gave him (now a pink powder), inhaling them in the process. He then finds the man that has been harassing the girl, and spanks him. The girl is sympathetic to the man, and he is so moved that the two are married.

Rebel, Rebel Yell!

The Rambler Rebel is an automobile that was produced by the American Motors Corporation (AMC) of Kenosha, Wisconsin for the 1957–1960 model years, as well as again for 1966 and 1967.

Introduced as a stand-alone model in one body style, the 1957 Rambler Rebel is credited for being the first factory-produced intermediate-sized high-performance car. This later became known as the muscle car market segment. It was also to be among the earliest production cars equipped with electronic fuel injection.

The second and third generations essentially became the equivalent Rambler Six models, but equipped with a V8 engine. The Rebel nameplate was reintroduced in 1966 as the top-line intermediate-sized two-door hardtop. For the 1967 model year, AMC's all-new intermediate line took the Rebel name. American Motors dropped the historic "Rambler" marque from these intermediate sized models to become the AMC Rebel starting with the 1968 model year.

Are You Easy?

"Just a Gigolo" is best known in a form recorded by Louis Prima in 1956, where it was paired in a medley with another old standard, "I Ain't Got Nobody" (words by Roger A. Graham and music by Spencer Williams, 1915). Although these two songs have nothing else in common, the popularity of Prima's combination, and of the Village People's 1978 and David Lee Roth's 1985 cover versions of the medley, has led to the mistaken perception by some that the songs are two parts of a single original composition.

The coupling of the two songs had its genesis in an earlier Louis Prima recording from 1945 (V Disc 554, side A), which was then adapted by Sam Butera for Prima's 1950s Las Vegas stage show, during which Prima would revisit his old hits in a new, jive-and-jumping style. The success of that act gained Prima a recording deal with Capitol Records, which aimed to capture on record the atmosphere of his shows. The first album, titled The Wildest! and released in November 1956, opened with "Just a Gigolo"/"I Ain't Got Nobody", which then became Prima's signature number and helped relaunch his career.

I wanted to know, so now I do... and knowing is half the battle!

Hello World... Meet Ksenia Parkhatskaya!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Graceful, eccentric, and full of character, Ksenia is one of the most interesting and versatile artists in the jazz and swing world today.

Whether she is twisting crazy “cow tail” in Charleston, dancing to be-bop, swinging out in Lindy Hop or singing with orchestras, she imbues everything she does with unique style and artistry.

She exploded onto the swing scene at Harlem 2011 (Vilnius), in the solo jazz dance battle, and claiming many crowns since, but she has been in training as a professional ballroom dancer since 1996, as an actor, modern jazz dancer since 2005. She has a true mastery over different genres, underpinned by a singer’s understanding of musicality and an historian’s appreciation of authenticity. Sixteen Candles Facts...

-We use time to order events in the past, present and future. We also use it to make comparisons and measure the speed at which things move.

-If you wanted to measure time you could use a watch, clock, hourglass or even a sundial.

-A sundial is a tool that uses the position of the Sun to measure time, typically involving a shadow cast across a marked surface.

-The use of pendulums to accurately measure time was discovered by Galileo Galilei around 400 years ago. A pendulum is a free swinging weight hanging from a pivot.

-There are 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in an hour and 24 hours in a day.

-Normal years have 365 days but a Leap year has 366. The Earth takes a little longer than 365 days to go around the Sun so we add an extra day in February every four years (with a few exceptions) to keep calendars and seasons aligned.

-10 years is known as a decade, 100 years is known as a century and 1000 years is known as a millennium.

-Milliseconds, microseconds and nanoseconds are examples of very small units of time.

-Planck time is the name given to the smallest known unit of time. It’s a little confusing but it measures the amount of time it takes light to travel 1 Planck length (a distance so small that it can’t even be measured!).

-Scientists believe the moon was used as a form of calendar as far back as 6000 years ago. Calendars have been changing ever since and are very accurate in modern times.

-Accurate clocks that measure hours, minutes and seconds have improved with the invention of sundials, water clocks, mechanical clocks, pendulums and hourglasses through to the digital displays and atomic clocks of today.

-Many places use daylight saving time (typically by putting clocks forward an hour) for longer daylight in the evenings.

-Different parts of the world are located in different time zones. This means that while you are having breakfast in the morning, someone in another part of the world is having dinner.

-Theories related to time have been put forward by famous scientists such as Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein. You may have even heard of the term ‘spacetime’, a model in physics that joins space and time together.

-In terms of philosophy, time is difficult to define. Scientists and philosophers have disagreed on our understanding of time for many years. Some argue it is a ‘real’ part of the Universe while others argue it is just the way humans think, comparing events and putting them in sequence. It’s a little confusing but fun to think about, what do you think?

-Some more questions to get your brain buzzing: Does time have a direction? Did it begin with the Big Bang? Is time travel possible?

So Yes, you might be learning stuff this week... OH YEAH!
