Doctor Who Knows, Do You?

Doctor Who is a British science fiction television programme produced by the BBC. The programme depicts the adventures of a Time Lord—a time travelling, humanoid alien known as the Doctor. He explores the universe in his TARDIS (acronym: Time and Relative Dimension in Space), a sentient time-traveling space ship. Its exterior appears as a blue British police box, a common sight in Britain in 1963, when the series first aired. Along with a succession of companions, the Doctor faces a variety of foes while working to save civilizations, help ordinary people, and right wrongs.

Dalek in-universe history has seen many retroactive changes, which have caused continuity problems. When the Daleks first appeared in The Daleks, they were presented as the descendants of the Dals, mutated after a brief nuclear war between the Dal and Thal races 500 years ago. This race of Daleks is destroyed when their power supply is wrecked. However they reappear in The Dalek Invasion of Earth, where they have conquered Earth in the 22nd Century.

Later stories saw them develop time travel and a space empire. In 1975, Terry Nation revised the Daleks' origins in Genesis of the Daleks, where the Dals were now called Kaleds (of which "Daleks" is an anagram), and the Dalek design was attributed to one man, the crippled Kaled chief scientist and evil genius, Davros. Instead of a short nuclear exchange, the Kaled-Thal war was portrayed as a thousand-year-long war of attrition, fought with nuclear, biological and chemical weapons causing widespread mutations among the Kaled race. Davros experimented on living Kaled cells to find the ultimate mutated form of the Kaled species and placed the subjects in tank-like "travel machines" whose design was based on his own life-support chair.

And yes... I am letting you know that I have made a shirt design that I thought fit these to the needs of the Daleks. I want to welcome in the latest doctor and the actor "Peter Capaldi" 12th M.D. all the best to the new season. So join me and wear your new "DALEK SPEAK" design and what are your first thoughts of the new doctor. Do you care?

  1. I know a couple people who are going to go nuts for that shirt. I never got into Dr. Who though.
Now, do one for say Stargate SG1, and I'd be all over it!

  3. Love me some Dr. Who, but I will always miss David Tennant, in my opinion the best doctor. Though I could have done without Donna Noble...great shirt! But I'm still getting flying monkeys once I have money...

  4. Love your Shirts!I found Doctor who on PBS in the early 80'S. It was difficult to find stuff in the US, everything had to be special ordered videos & books. Tom Baker was my first Doctor ,so he was the one I kinda grew up with. I love the NuWho, and the fact that I can go to my local comic book shop and find a plethora of stuff. I could possibly fill your whole post with my comments so I will digress.

  6. I was lucky enough to man-handle David Tennant in one of the episodes with the Ood. I was an extra playing one of the armed guards dressed in black and myself and a colleague had to hold Mr T by the arms, I was positioned on his right. I was amazed at how tall he is - I'm just a touch under 5' 11" and David Tennant stood a good four inches taller than me. Nice guy. I later had my role switched to that of being the guard killed by the Ood as they step out of the container. Dammit! Fun times, though :)

  9. I have a friend who is a lecturer on media. He's a big Dr. Who fan and goes to a lot of Dr. Who conventions. His house is full of actual memorabilia from the show. He has also met a number of the guys who played Dr. Who.

Do you guys get "Torchwood" in North America? The spin-off show of Doctor Who. "Torchwood" is an anagram of "Doctor Who."

    A good weekend to you.
