I figured out my problem in the new year with posting, there is nothing really happening in movies, just bad news. I find it very difficult to get the jump on these post as I find myself doing a lot of helpful designing... cause it just helps me get out of the winter blues. So I thought I would bring the best kind of blues and share you up some of my toys.
I was to have a child someday, but that ship has sailed, so I meant to give my kid these toys from my past... I managed to keep all of them. Got this idea from good friend Alex, who referenced Battlestar Galactica in his post on Wednesday. I was a kid who saved up like 20 cereal box tops to get a "VIPER" cardboard dashboard, I played with it for weeks.
Does anyone remember that toy offer from late 70's early 80's? I know you all are saying there is no photos of it and a bunch of GI: Joes/Cobra... if you can help on this VIPER please do?

I totally missed the Viper. That would've been cool. Need to do a Google image search and see if we can find it.
ReplyDeleteYou did good to save your toys. I don't have too many remaining. A few G.I. Joe's, Big Jim, Six Million Dollar Man... (Yes, really! With space capsule.)
you have Big Jim and Six Million Dollar Man... that is really cool. Does this mean your JOES are vintage too... I was really to young for keeping those toys intact, I only started in the late 70s to preserve.
DeleteWant to trade or sell... or give to me [as I use the force on you] ;)
I still have my Barbies and my brother still have his GI Joes. We used to pretend GI Joe would save the Barbies and Ken was the Villan.

Shelly
Ken is the villain... that sounds like it was a adventure. We as teenagers made a roll playing game using the stats from the gi-joe universe and rolled the dice to fight... i had mostly ninjas and baddies... i always won.
DeleteI have a bunch of old Hot Wheels, and decided the kids can't play with them. Too beat up. And probably lead-based. I have a ton of Micro Machines, but The Boy isn't old enough for them yet.
ReplyDeleteI have hot wheels... didn't think about the lead... my oldest one is like '73 I think... is Micro Machines like Mirconauts?
DeleteMicro Machines were just miniature cars, trucks, planes, construction equipment. Late 1980's/Early 1990's. Even smaller than Hot Wheels, as evidenced in this picture.
DeleteAlso...why does Yoda have a snake around his neck in that first picture?
Okay... now I know... Yoda had a snake in the Empire Strikes Back... and this is the I think Rare Orange version...
DeleteNope, don't remember anything from late 70's. Me wasn't even born then :P
ReplyDeletethat's okay... we still like you!!
DeleteSadly, as is too often the case, my mother threw out most of the toys I was silly enough to leave boxed up at home. I do still have a few plastic totes full of Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, and Transformers in the basement.
ReplyDeleteI may or may not allow my son to play with them when he's older. :)
I have some vintage Transformers... Lots of Star Wars and... I wish I still had them Mint in Box... damn you childhood!
DeleteThese days video games have taken place of toys.
ReplyDeleteWell I wasn't around at that time, so I wouldn't remember :) Never thought of saving my old toys for my kids! I do want them to play old school video games, though...
ReplyDeleteJeremy I do have some toys from my childhood. Sadly my vast collection of70s Star Wars toys were lost in an incident that involved a vacation, my cousins and my Dad's hatred of childish toys. I recognize Zartan and one of the Evil Twin Brothers. Xamot I believe.
