R.I.P.D. is a 2013 American supernatural film directed by Robert Schwentke, based on the comic book Rest in Peace Department by Peter M. Lenkov and published by Dark Horse Entertainment. The film stars Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges as Nick Walker and Roy Pulsipher, respectively.
Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (the B.P.R.D. or BPRD) is a fictional organization in the comic book work of Mike Mignola, charged with protecting America and the world from the occult, paranormal and supernatural. It maintains the services of several supernatural persons, including Hellboy. The B.P.R.D. originally appeared in the Hellboy comics but has also been featured in many stories under the B.P.R.D. title.
So both are from the Dark Horse Comics... to me at first I thought they were the same thing. So who would you rather... protect you in times of trouble? Or it's just a poor man's "MIB"?

Love Jeff Bridges as an actor, but cannot comment on his film, though really pleased you've mentioned it as now I have something to look forward to. I have, however, seen both Ron Pearlman films and enjoyed them equally (for different reasons). So sadly can't pass judgement... yet ;)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to RIPD, sounds like a right hoot!
ReplyDeleteBPRD! No on messes with Hellboy.
ReplyDeleteBPRD! No question.
ReplyDeleteBPRD! Hellboy without a doubt.
ReplyDeletewhat a lovely pic that first one is
ReplyDeleteBased on box office BPRD wins hands down.
ReplyDeleteBox office receipts are dismal for this one -- with everyone saying it is like MIB. This looks to be putting the last nails into the coffin of the Western. I will watch this on DVD. What with TURBO's and this movie's dismal showing, Ryan Renolds career may be bruised! Have a great mid-week.
