-What is it about your blog about, what can people come and expect to see?
wicKED: My blog is mostly about celebrating all facets of Halloween. I cover horror, monsters, film, TV, modern media, history, and a great deal about my Yard Haunt. There are devoted pages to local (Southwest Virginia) haunted attractions, real haunted sites, party guides,DIY haunt projects, and recipes galore. There is also a healthy dose of humor (read sarcasm) sprinkled in for good measure. Every now and then I will post about the misadventures of my Halloween supportive girlfriend and our feline companions. Even though the blog is primarily a Halloween blog, I update it year round whenever I find wicKED things in the world. I try to participate in as many Blogverse events as I can to keep things going.

-Some of the biggest challenges you face as a blogger and making post?
wicKED: When I first started the blog, I thought content would be the biggest hurdle to keep a Holiday specific blog afloat. After a year behind the wheel of the beast, I find that time is my biggest enemy. Working a full time job and dealing with everyday life leaves little time for quality posts. I am a very visual person and that translates to my blog. After I post an article, I edit it at least 3 times before I leave it be to make sure it all fits , flows, and looks appealing. Finding content, both visual and information is easy. Putting it together in a cohesive and attractive package...that takes time....and time is hard to come by these days.

-What scares you about you?
wicKED: I'm really not afraid of much. I think the unknown is more frightening to me than anything. A zombie wants to eat your brains. That is predictable and as such I would not fear it. Some maniac stalker watching me from the woods is frightening in the sense there are so many unforeseeable actions on his part. I am also afraid of death. Not that I fear what is to come, but I fear tasks left undone. I fear not fulfilling my self before the end, and I regret wonders that I will never be able to experience after I pass. Maybe that is why I celebrate Autumn, death, and the supernatural to the extent I do.
-Tell us a little something about yourself... maybe a shhhh secret?
wicKED: That is dangerous territory. I have a day job where I am required to wear a full suit and act very, VERY mature, but I am a big kid inside. I am the guy that can barely sleep on Christmas eve still. I have more fun with my God-Daughters toys at Christmas than she does, and I still find myself horribly engrossed in cartoons whenever they come on TV. I was almost killed in 2009 when a Jeep slid on ice and hit me. Since then, I have lived every day as if it were my last. Every reason to celebrate is taken. From promotions, to season premiers of TV shows. We even celebrate Arbor day to the fullest at The Wicked Woods. I very nearly started a blog about all holidays, but Halloween was the nearest and dearest to my heart and thus was born Something wicKED this way comes....

I wanted to thank Ked for giving me the chance to chat him up over the weekend, it is always cool to meet you all and to share a little more of your own personal madness. Also you can see that he and his pretty lady like to live up the Halloween holiday from the images they gave to me... well I hope these were Halloween shots... kidding I wish them all the best. Happy Haunting!

ReplyDeleteLike Lisa I found Ked's site last year during Countdown to Halloween. His sense of humor has bought a smile to my face on many occasions. I'll never forget the pic of a couple of his Halloween props being very bad boys in the seclusion of the garden shed...still makes me giggle.
ReplyDeleteTerrific interview!
